Led by the TENG Company's artistic director and award-winning pipa player Dr Samuel Wong, the Pipa Quartet consists of his students: Goh XueQi, Ivan Chng and Jeremy Wong.

Pianobotanica - Piano recital by Caio Pagano

Recognised by classical music aficionados worldwide as a master of Classical Piano, the much-travelled maestro Brazilian pianist Caio Pagano will play in the Botanic Gardens’ Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage on 8 September 2013, from 6pm to 7pm.

Sponsored by Keppel Corporation and supported by The Embassy of Brazil, the Recital is expected to attract a turnout of over a thousand classical music lovers on the lawn of Palm Valley.

As a Professor of Piano at Arizona State University, Pagano has treated appreciators of music from across four continents in 900 performances as a recital soloist, chamber musician or orchestra soloist.

In Asia, he has performed in Tokyo, Beijing and Kyoto, as well as at The Esplanade and SOTA Theatres in Singapore.

Pagano is also a Professor at the University of Brazil in Sao Paulo and was the creative mind behind the successful International Biennial in Brazil. Since its inception, the Biennial has attracted many luminaries from the world of classical music, and continues to grow.

As part of an exclusive group of Steinway Artists, Pagano joins the ranks of Sergei Rachmaninov, Artur Rubinstein, Igor Stravinsky, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, George Gershwin and Billy Joel - renowned artists who perform only on Steinway pianos.
Of the 36 works Pagano has premiered worldwide, 25 were written especially for him. His solo performance at the Botanic Gardens will feature some 11 works, most of which will be known to his audience as pieces by Bach, Beethoven, Weber, Chopin, Debussy and Liszt.

Every last Saturday of the month until November, sail around Marina Bay on board a DBS schooner, for free. Tickets for seven 30-minute sessions are available only two months before the sail dates; click the link below for the registration page.

This is an opportunity for you to enjoy the unique experience of sailing in a DBS sailboat on the waters of Marina Bay. Through this sailing programme, DBS hopes to make the Bay and what it has to offer more accessible to the community at large.

The DBS Marina Bay Sailing Programme is organised in partnership with the Singapore Sailing Federation (SSF).

Tickets will be made available two months prior to the sail dates.

What to Expect
Each sailboat can accommodate up to four persons.
There are seven sessions offered for each event, with timings indicated on the ticket.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your session indicated on the ticket as the sail boat will depart on time.

A safety briefing will be conducted prior to departure.

In your absence, your ticket may be released to other waiting participants five minutes prior to departure. Latecomers may be offered sessions later in the day subject to availability.

Footwear: Flats/sports shoes/slippers
Sun protection: Shades/caps/sunscreen
Lifevest will be provided and must be worn on board

Other Terms & Conditions
Participants must be 7 year old and above, and should possess basic water confidence.

All participants will be required to sign an indemnity form prior to boarding the sailboat.

In the event of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, the organiser reserves the rights to delay or cancel the sailing session for the safety of the participants. Please understand that this decision may take place at short notice, whether pre-departure or after the session has commenced. In such cases, participants may be offered alternative sessions subject to availability.

Participants are allowed to sign up for only one session and up to a maximum of four tickets at any given time. Each ticket allows one person on board. The organiser reserves the rights to cancel registration for multiple sessions or tickets beyond the maximum allocation.

In order to allow more people to experience sailing in Marina Bay, we seek your understanding that it may not be possible for all members of your party to sail in the same boat.

Tickets are transferable upon notification two days in advance. To transfer your tickets, please email gsmc@dbs.com.

If you are unable to attend the sailing session, please cancel your tickets via this registration site or notify us at gsmc@dbs.com so that we can make the sailing experience available to other members of the public.

Into its second year, the DBS Marina Regatta is growing bigger and better in 2013 with a brand new Bay Festival!
 
Following a weekend of exhilarating dragon boat races on 18 and 19 May, the DBS Marina Regatta – Bay Festival offers an exciting programme and wide range of activities that cater to both young and old. From Watersports by the Bay, Family Fun by the Bay, to Rhythms by the Bay, there is every reason for you, your families and friends to come to Marina Bay on 24 & 25 May
 
There is no pre-registration for the watersports activities. Just pop by the various registration booths on the day and you will be allocated a timeslot when you sign up. 
 
Please make sure you have comfortable clothing such as a t-shirt and shorts/bermudas, flip-flops, sunblock and sunglasses. Please bring an extra change of clothing in case you get wet. 
 
There will be no changing room. The closest restrooms are located at Marina Bay Sands, Marina Bay Link Mall and the Marina Bay City Gallery. Alternatively, you may use the portable bathrooms onsite. 
 
No, there is no charge to attend the Bay Festival as it is free for the community.  
 
 
 
Watersports by the Bay
On 24 May, the Marina Bay waters will be buzzing with action as close to 50 dragon teams from secondary schools and various community groups give their best in the invitational races.  
                                  
On 25 May, it will be your chance to have a splashing good time – simply sign up onsite on that day for one of our dragon boating or kayaking sessions! Registration will be open from 2.30pm on a first-come-first-served basis. More details will be made available on 10 May. Do check back!
 
How can I get tickets to DBS Marina Regatta?
DBS Marina Regatta is a community event brought to you by DBS. The event is open to the public and admission is free for both the Dragon Boat Races (18 & 19 May) and Bay Festival (24 & 25 May).
 
The 500m races will start near the Merlion monument and end at the Promontory at Marina Bay.
 


 
 
Family Fun by the Bay
Create special memories with your loved ones and friends on 24 & 25 May. From archery, art & crafts, to roving circus acts and Kinect, you can expect many interesting activities at the Bay Festival. Don’t forget to bring your cameras to capture the special moments!

Rhythms by the Bay
The finals of the DBS Marina Regatta Drum Challenge will be held on 25 May, following the semi-finals on 19 May. The best of the best percussion groups in Singapore will battle it out on stage for the top prize of $5,000. Let them inspire you with their talent and energy! The list of finalists will be announced on this website on 21 May. In the meantime, click here to find out more about the Drum Challenge.
On 25 May, you will be entertained by popular local acts, including Electrico, Jack and Rai, Jessica Soo and Mel & Joe, with Kelly Latimer as the emcee.

This year, we are pleased to partner the Ministry of Social and Family Development for the first-ever Social Enterprise Carnival @ DBS Marina Regatta on 18 & 19 May. The Carnival serves as an excellent platform for SEs to showcase their businesses and promote their products and services. You can expect an array of sumptuous food and snacks, a wide range of merchandise and a myriad of live performances and circus acts. Don’t forget to have a go on the one-of-a-kind bamboo bicycle!
The Social Enterprise Carnival will also be held at the DBS Marina Regatta – Bay Festival on 24 & 25 May. On this weekend, we are partnering social enterprises to offer games, food and beverages and many other fun activities.

The band of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines consists of 54 enthusiastic and experienced amateur musicians, all of whom have strong links to KLM, KLM affiliated airlines and Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam - the Netherlands.

Jan Schut, the musical director of the orchestra and a versatile muscian, is a professional and experienced conductor. He teaches conducting Concert and Brass Bands at the Conservatory of Music in Amsterdam. He conducts several orchestras, directs musical productions, and has produced a large number of radio programmes and documentaries. He is also a freelance trumpet player, conductor, jury member and examiner.
